About
Saskia Franken-Saers
I am an illustrator and artist from the Netherlands, born on Sterrenlaan in Puttershoek in 1979. From a young age, I enjoyed drawing, painting, and crafting.
Although it was always a hobby, my artwork began to take on a more serious form in 2010. I attended a course for several years with artist Jan Naezer in Rijswijk, who helped me further develop my style and approach in the field of fantasy art.
Since then, I have created many illustrations and paintings, and in recent years, I have also been working digitally using programmes such as Procreate and Nomad Sculpt. With the help of the latter, I create 3D figures, which are then made into figurines, ornaments, or jewellery.
Over the years, I have had the opportunity to exhibit and publish several times:
2012: Elf Fantasy Fair, Castle de Haar, Haarzuilens
2013: Cover art for the Rejected Quarterly magazine
2018: Mermaids, La Bodega Art Gallery, USA
2019: “20”, Penumbra Art Gallery, Portugal
2020: Squared, Penumbra Art Gallery, Portugal
2021: Enchanted Forest, Penumbra Art Gallery, Portugal
2022: Woodland Fantasy, Penumbra Art Gallery, Portugal
2022: Candy Monsters, Gallery IYN, Japan
2023: We are Zanna magazine, article
2025: Comic, Film & Manga Fest, Rotterdam
I draw much of my inspiration from nature and from experiences I go through and need to process. In the past, this often resulted in more pop-surrealistic illustrations and paintings. However, in recent years, I’ve gradually returned to my greatest artistic love: the world of fantasy.
I have since built an extensive portfolio and sell originals, prints, stickers, and other products featuring my work.
